Where to get the Arts Festival programme

Published on 24 May 2019

With hundreds of performances, it’s good to get to grips with what’s on offer at the National Arts Festival before it begins. And it’s even better to keep abreast of what’s happening next when it’s under way. There are a few ways for Festival-goers to do this:

Browse the programme online

The ‘Browse by Day‘ function on this website allows you to scroll through each day, with listings arranged chronologically. This is an excellent way to see what’s on on the dates you’ll be in Makhanda.

Daily Diary QR codeYou can also view and download the full programme as a PDF. There’s an Issuu digital copy of it to view there too. Or you can download an up-to-date Daily Diary, which is a complete and simple hour-by-hour listing of all shows. Scan the QR code for the latest copy.

The National Arts Festival App is another way to browse the programme. Download it free from the iStore (Android coming soon).

  • Once you’ve decided on your shows, you can book tickets via the website, the app or by contacting our Box Office on 0860 002 004.

Want a printed copy of ‘the Book’?

Some Festival-goers prefer to have a printed copy of the programme. This year, copies are available for order from Takealot for R75 (+ R60 delivery. First-time orders qualify for free delivery).

We are changing the way we issue the programme for two reasons: the cost of printing has become too great for the Festival to carry alone; and there is always a lot of waste as many are not collected or used. The benefits of getting your programme through Takealot is that it is delivered straight to you. You will also be able to buy copies of the programme from our Box Offices during the Festival for R75.

  • If you’d prefer to collect your programme yourself once you’ve ordered it, you can find a list of Takelot pick-up points here.
  • The Festival programme will also be on sale at various outlets around the country. We’ll post details as soon as they’re confirmed.

Contact the Festival Office for assistance in obtaining a copy of your Festival Programme.
