Giving Poetry Wings 2 is an augmented reality exhibition which will showcase collaborative work between selected poets and digital artists. This will be the result of a hackathon hosted prior to the exhibition, with the aim of creating a space and opportunity for poets to have their work developed beyond paper/ spoken word, as well as for digital artists to create new themed work inspired by literature. You definitely would not want to miss out on how fascinating and beautiful poetry can soar through the digital realm, when it’s given the wings and the opportunity to fly again.

Exhibition opening: 28  June at 13:00 – followed by live poetry reading and Q&A

HACKATHON

Giving Poetry Wings is a poetry and digital art hackathon with the aim of creating a space and opportunity for poets to have their work developed beyond paper/ spoken word, as well as for digital artists to create new themed work inspired by literature. Twelve participants (six poets and six digital artists) will be tasked with collectively creating new work and exploring different ways that poetry can be expressed digitally. The hackathon will provide the right climate for ideas to be shared, generated, and for participants to think outside the box that tends to confine a lot of people in their respective industries. You definitely do not want to miss out on how fascinating and beautiful poetry can soar through the augmented reality, when it’s given the wings and the opportunity to fly.

This hackathon will take place over two days prior to the start of the Festival – from 24 to 25 June. An exhibition of the work created during this time will be on display in the Creativate Exhibition Hub.
