Under BRICS: A New Relationship between the Pearl River Delta (PRD) and Africa? – Prof Yun ZHONG (钟韵)

South Africa was invited to become a member of BRIC (hence extending the name to BRICS) at the end of 2010 and attended its 3rd Summit as a fully-fledged member in May 2011. The IMF has predicted that more than half the world’s economic growth will continue to come from the BRICS countries for the foreseeable future. Professor Yun ZHONG, has a PhD in Urban Geography and is an Associate Professor of Economics at Jinan University, Guangzhou, China. She is currently Deputy Director of Urban & Regional Economy Study Center, affiliated to the Institute of Hong Kong, Macao & Special-Economic-Zones Economy Research. Prof. Zhong’s major research interests are regional economics, region cooperation, services industry and regional development, and urban geography. She has published a book, Central city of region and Development of producer services (The Commercial Press, 2007) and published over 40 academic papers on SCI and Chinese Journals.
